Benefits of Parsley for Women

Parsley is a popular herb used as a garnish in salads and soups. This little green herb can be easily bought in any local market or grocer. It can be either used fresh or dried.  It has been found to be rich in calcium, magnesium, niacin, phosphorus, potassium, vitamin C and vitamin A. 

It is a very mild herb, yet parsley contains properties that help stabilize hormonal imbalance so therefore it can be beneficial to a lot of women with menstrual problems. Using parsley to induce menstruation is very easy to do. Several experts recommend parsley to induce menstrual flow because it is completely safe as there are no known side effects linked to the use of this herb. 

Parsley Tea 

Experts recommend women experiencing menstrual abnormalities to drink 3 to 4 cups of parsley tea in a day to stimulate menstrual flow. Throw a handful of fresh or dry parsley leaves on a pot of boiling water, cover and let it steep for 20 to 30 minutes. Strain before drinking. 

The inducing powers of parsley are provided by its volatile oils. After drinking a few cups of parsley tea, it is believed that the volatile oils enter the bloodstream. It will immediately start to stimulate contractions, causing the dilation of the cervix and so induce menstruation within a couple of hours. 

Parsley Pessary 

Parsley used as pessary or vaginal insert can help soften the cervix, open it, and prepare for the release of menstruation. 

Tie fresh parsley in a sprig and wrap it on a cheese cloth. Push the parsley leaves into the vagina, as far as possible, near the cervix. It may feel bulky at first, but the leaves will soften later due to the natural heat emitted by the body. 

Replace the sprig every few hours. On the second day, cramps will start and bleeding is expected on the third day. 

Side Effects 

Pregnant women are advised to stay away from parsley tea, regardless of its health benefits. Parsley tea intensifies the blood flow to the reproductive system, specifically the uterus and cervix of the pregnant woman. Drinking parsley tea during pregnancy may cause uterine bleeding, thereby increasing the danger of miscarriage. Consuming parsley tea can also cause muscle contractions of the uterus and various allergic reactions to the mucous membrane. 

Studies revealed that parsley seeds can also cause birth defects and abortion. Patients with inflammatory kidney problems are not advised to use parsley pessary.
